Dear Dr. Turner,

You are no longer one of my favorite people.

Another Day, Another Lesson In Humiliation From The General Public

This morning at Target as I'm buckling Sienna into her car seat, this old lady sees me and shouts from across the parking lot:

"twins or triplets???"

When I politely chuckle and shout back that there is only one, she comes running over all concerned.

"Are you sure?"

"Sometimes they don't know until delivery"

"My cousin Ida Mae ended up with twins, but that was back in....blah, blah, blah."

This is where I tuned out.

Although this has been a refrain I have heard approximately 8,542 times in the last two months, for some reason, this old lady really got to me this morning and I wanted to throw her to the ground. But since that's not what Jesus would do, I simply smiled and got in my car. And she was still trying to talk to me about cord blood banking and the benefits vs costs and blah, blah, blah which strangely made me want to throw her to the ground EVEN HARDER. I think I have officially snapped.

So as I make my plea for induction to Dr. T tomorrow, I thought I would include this little tale. That I am now so miserable that I want to inflict bodily harm on the elderly. No one is safe from my wrath. Think he'll go for it?

Someone Get Me A Patent, And Quick!

Kelly left yesterday. I was very sad. She spoiled me rotten, showing up on Thursday with a huge cooler of food and cooking and cleaning for three solid days. She even helped me tackle the huge job of going through the bags and bins of clothing that we have been given for sweet Baby J Thanks Megan! Thanks Jen!) and I feel like I was finally able to put all my nesting powers to use. It was wonderful.

Kelly and I have known each other for thirty years. Can you believe that? She is way, way older than me, registering in at a solid 36 years, but for little young me, it's bizarre to have known someone for that long. Bizarre and rockin, that is.

Kelly makes me laugh. She says the funniest things and I literally have to hold onto the monster belly and chuckle away. She was commenting on the gigantic growth that is my stomach and said that we should invent a contraption to help hold up the belly for me. She aptly titled it the "Baby Bjorn Before You're Born." Yeah, I nearly peed.

The best thing about Kelly is that she is so compassionate and caring, she practically takes on your pain as her own, and is so sympathetic that it made me feel better just knowing she was so concerned about me. She is priceless, a one of a kind friend, and I'm now more indebted to her than ever.

Thanks To The Powers That Be

Yesterday, while dear Kelly was making cookies with my girls, the phone rang and one of Brad's principals was on the other line. We have gotten to be good friends and although she was initially looking for Brad, she kindly asked how I was doing. After explaining my latest situation and jokingly asking her if Brad could take a day or two off, we hung up.

Fast forward a few hours and Brad calls to tell me that this lady and another principal came into Brad's room to tell him to plan on making next Friday his last day as he was needed at home. They had already arranged a sub for him for the remaining two weeks of school and he was to be home helping me finish out this crazy pregnancy.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT????

I literally wanted to shout from the rooftops. And since Kelly is here this weekend, and my mom will be here as of Tuesday, I officially will have round the clock help until Baby Boy J makes his grand entrance.

I am incredibly blessed and so, so grateful.

Pick Up Your Phone, Megan

Brad: "I didn't really notice your hair cut yesterday but today it looks totally different."

Me: "Do you like it? I tried something new."

Brad: "It kind of looks like Hillary Clinton hair. Or maybe Pat Benatar."

Me: speechless....

Brad: "No, I mean, it's fine. It just looks like mom hair, that's all."

Awesome. Totally the look I was going for.

Updates

* A few weeks ago we had Spencer's birthday party. Imagine the cutest Mariner's baseball cake EVER (thanks to the amazing help of Heather) since all of the pictures are on my mom's camera and my email is still blocking all her incoming messages. He had a blast.

*A little less than a few weeks ago was Spencer's baptism. It was perfect, and at only a half hour long, it was delightful. He was given his own set of scriptures by me and Brad and now spends his free time reading, because "it's important mom." He started at Genesis, Chapter 1. Good luck, buddy. If I can figure out how to load the video I made of him, I will post it. It is priceless.

*Last week I cried on Dr. T's shoulder as he tried to A) reduce the umbilical hernia that is back and making me want to shoot myself and B) told me to wait until my next appointment for an induction date. His advice to me was, shockingly, bed rest, and I told him that as long as I could keep carpooling, making my kids food, keeping up the house, and being all around MOM, I would go on bed rest. It's working out real well for me. The good news with the hernia is that it's too late for me to have surgery on it which is what happened in my seventh month of pregnancy with Hannah. The bad news is that it's too late for me to have surgery on it which is what happened in my seventh month of pregnancy with Hannah and RELIEVED ALL THE PAIN. He asked me to describe the pain and I told him it felt like someone was holding a lit match to my stomach around the clock. Yeah, it's a doozer.

*This morning I got my hair done by the amazing Megan and while I was hoping it would make me look a whole lot better, it really only made my hair look a whole lot better. The rest of me is still beyond repair.

*Pool construction is under way. Hooray!

*My dear friend Kelly comes the end of this week to wait on me hand and foot and I'm so excited to see her smiling face I can hardly stand it.

*Oops, carpooling duty calls. Better hop up off bed rest!

To My Kids

Dear Spencer, Hannah, Sienna, and Baby Boy J,

What a week we have had! Our days have been full as we have tried to race from one thing to the next and I want to thank each of you for hanging in there with mom. I know it's been hard for you since there isn't a lot I can do right now, but your patience and understanding has been awesome. Once again, you have each made being your mom the very best thing.

If you remember anything about this week, I hope it is this: always surround yourself with good people. They come in all shapes and sizes, from all different parts of the world with different ideas and views, but a good person will carry you far in life. Just this week, our family has been served by so many amazing people and I really couldn't have gotten through the week without them. From the awesome meals brought by Annette, Amanda and Stacia, to Sonja watching you all afternoon and evening, and the the amazing Lindsay, Megan and Camie who came and cleaned yesterday. These are the types of people you should always have in your life and I hope you have learned first hand how important it is to serve those in need. For now, we are on the receiving end of that service, but as soon as I'm able, know that our goal as a family will be to help as many people as we can. I have been so incredibly blessed to know the people I know and the gratitude I have felt this week has been overwhelming. We are so incredibly lucky.

We only have a few weeks left until Baby Boy J finally arrives and I appreciate you guys helping me in so many different ways. You make everything about my life better and I love being your mom. You each bring me more joy than you'll ever know.

Always,
Mama

The Cutest (And Newest!) Little Cub In Town

With one week of scouting under his belt, he's already earned his Bobcat and is blazing through the Wolf Trail. If there was ever a kid made for scouting, you're looking at him. Way to go, Spence!

How Time Flies

Because my amazingly thoughtful husband did this, one year ago today we did this:

I love my home, I love my family, and I really love the man responsible for all of it.

Thanks again, sweetie!

Dr. T Update

So I went to the doctor on Tuesday and had my fourth ultrasound. Baby Boy J is now weighing in at 5 lbs! Can't wait to see what he tips the scales at when he finally arrives!

The doc and I discussed everything that's been going on with my whacked out body and just when I thought he'd say "try to be down as much as possible" he said "why don't we consider a wheelchair?"

Um, yeah. I nearly fell over laughing. I thought he was kidding and when he assured me he wasn't, I informed the Good Doctor that it was never. gonna. happen. With three other kiddo's and a house with stairs, not to mention a non-wheel chair accessible van, that's a big fat NO.

So then he says that he'd like to see me use a cane.

A CANE PEOPLE!

Again, never gonna happen. I admitted my vanity and said that as long as my bones were still hanging together, even by a thread, I would hobble along unassisted.

A cane, seriously.

My new approach is to avoid the stairs as much as possible which is a bit tricky but I am steadfast! Sure, the laundry room is up there, as is my room, everything that Sienna needs, and all the toys and books but it's all good.

In other news, I had a dream that Alicia and I were running in a hundred mile race last night. (Perhaps we were inspired by Marilyn's husband??) Anyhoo, it was hilarious. At one point, we were racing up this HUGE hill and Alicia was telling me funny things about her parents, which cracked me up, and we were both carrying paper plates in our hands (were we hoping for snacks??) And, I had an air mattress folded under my arm (in case we got tired??) But we chugged along and made it to a train station where we handed over our paper plates and ran on to the next leg of our journey. Completely bizarre but very entertaining!
