Has anyone seen this show?
On Lifetime?
Friday nights?
I know, I know, it sounds HORRIBLE, but it's really a great show. It's all about re-doing someone's perspective of how they see themselves and it's incredibly effective. For the first show, they took a slightly overweight girl in her twenties who had struggled with her weight all her life. At the beginning of the show, she's in tears as she views herself in front of a three-way mirror, and by the end, after several perception changing exercises, she is loving what she's got and vowing to make it better. I thought it was fabulous.
And it's not just about women who struggle with their weight. Some of the women are teeny tiny but still have their own body issues and this show helps them realize the power in their bodies and turns them from body haters to body lovers. It's quite empowering.
The show is hosted by Carson Kressley who may drive some people INSANE but I find him hilarious. He's funny, hysterical, and always very sincere which is what a women needs when standing in a mirror in her bra and panties. And he's gay, so no worries.
As someone who has ALWAYS been envious of thin thighs and small hips, it made me realize that even those WITH thin thighs and small hips struggle and believe it or not, some of my own body perceptions have started to change.
Which is miraculous at this point because when your body currently looks like you accidentally swallowed a VW Bug, that's saying something.
Check it out and tell me what you think.

Sounds like something I could use...I'll have to check it out.
I've wanted to watch that show. Now I want to watch it even more. And yes, even us "skinny girls" have body image stuff. I know it sounds stupid, but it's true.
And for the record, you DO NOT look like you swallowed a VW Bug. Although, Bug would make a cute nickname for your little bambino/bambina.
That sounds like an amazing show, one that was made for me. I'll definitely have to check it out.
I'll watch it if you DVR it. and invite me over... otherwise I'm outta luck!
Please... at least Dr. T has never said "Holy Beach Ball" to you as he was measuring your belly! Talk about embarrassing
Never heard of that show, but it does sound very interesting. I need to watch.
I have not watched this yet, but now you have me intrigued. I'll have to check it out. I love shows that make people feel better about themselves from the inside out.
No cable here... it does sound like a very intriguing show... maybe I'll catch it at my parents the next time I go home...
Seriously Karen!?! I have been telling you these things (skinny people have hangups too, its about loving who YOU are) for YEARS! Apparently whenever I need to get something through your thick skull, I need to call up Carson and have him do a show about it!
I'm just a little hurt but I'll get over it. Maybe I need to wear pink more often...
Michele,
YOU PISS ME OFF.
Not really, but kinda.
I'm not saying these are new concepts to me, just that it's done in an interesting way and actually seeing the people transform was inspiring.
Seriously. I think there's an old lady in 3B who needs her diaper changed....
I was kidding Karen. You didn't have to swear at me in front of all of your friends! Sorry I p'd you off. It is a good show.
I've been wondering what it's all about - I think I had it and 'make me a supermodel' mixed up. I'll have to add it to my DVR so I can check it out sometime. Thanks for the review chica - and Tell Brad I think you need a hug;)
