I'm a little bit excited for our weekend. We've been planning it for ages and I can't believe it's finally here.
When I found out about Marilyn's latest concert, I immediately knew who needed to be sitting next to us. Through the wonders of blogs and Facebook, I've reconnected with some dear college friends and we've been sharing in each other's lives for quite some time. But the Rizz and I haven't actually seen them in YEARS (think 10+) except for one quick dinner a few years back. They live on the Westside and while that isn't too far away, a rendezvous just hasn't happened. Until now!
Jeff & Amy, Maile & Scott and Laura & Josh are packing up, farming out their kids (all 18 between the four of us!) and headed to our house early tomorrow. I've been scrubbing down the house, preparing the menu and getting ready for what's sure to be a weekend of a ton of laughter and good times. These are the people who got us through college. Theirs are the tables we gathered around when we were all starving students trying to figure out the cheapest way to feed everyone. They are the pranksters and gamers that we played with from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening. We cracked ourselves up playing "You Don't Know Jack!" at Laura's grandparent's house. We crawled around in the dark playing sardines by the hour. We perfected chocolate chip cookie making and spent hours at the river. We were kid-free, poorer than poor and having the time of our lives.
And we get to relive it all starting tomorrow.
Our plan is to have a great meal followed up by a truly inspiring concert. We'll then return home where some of us may have one more helping of dessert accompanied with the catching-up of everyone's lives. We will be kid free this time but I look forward to when we can gather all our broods and meet each other's families. I'm so thankful for these people. They remind me of a spectacular time in my life, largely in part because they made up the memories I have.
Great food, fantastic friends and an amazing show? I think it's the makings of a perfect weekend.
And in case you want to join us, tickets will be available at the door. Please come. You'll love every second.

ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY!!!
Here's to hoping that you laugh a lot and that your sickness suddenly disappears by 3:00 this afternoon!
I got all choked up reading this. I'm getting emotional in my old age. We CAN'T WAIT to see you tomorrow. I'm wearing stretchy pants to be able to accomodate all the food. Just like old times.
I love that you're all getting together for the weekend! You'll have a great time and I can't wait to hear all about it!
