Our first morning back with a schedule went off without a hitch, largely in part due to our amazing babysitter/neighbor/friend/all around amazing girl Carra who showed up at 7:30 this morning to primp my girls for their special day. Curls for Sienna, braids for Hannah and mountains of love and confidence were heaped upon them this morning and I couldn't be more thankful. We are so lucky to have Carra in our lives. Every family should have a Carra.
Spence missed the beauty parlor because he was out the door at 6:45 to...wait for it...catch the bus, which nearly killed me and has had me on the very of hyperventilating all morning. I know, I know, time to lengthen the leash but as the mom who has taken him to school every morning of his life, it kills me to literally watch him walk away. He was more than excited, showing his face at my bedside at exactly 6 am when his alarm went off. Middle school is going to be awesome for him, I can feel it already, but it will take some adjusting for his over-bearing mother.
All of this back-to-schoolness leaves just me and Auzzie home alone for the day and that won't even last for long as he starts preschool next week. After 11 years of round the clock mothering, I've earned 2 1/2 hours of alone time twice a week and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited. But those sweet faces? I'm going to miss them something fierce.
Good luck sweet kiddos.

I need a Carra in my life!! She's fabulous!
I love your kids pictures. Why do they have to grow up so fast?
What a lovely morning to start the first day of school for you all. The girlies looked adorable and I love the confidence shining on Spencer's face. How on earth can Austin be starting preschool already? Enjoy your few hours of freedom... it does a mommy good!
That Carra is gem for sure! Your girls look so cute and shiny with excitement! I can't believe Spencer has to catch the bus so early! I forgot middle school started way before the grade school's. I hope they all have an awesome day!
Perfection! In the first picture, check Hannah's feet. We could call that fourth position. Maybe she has the dance gene after all!
I need to see your family more often. Every time you post pictures I swear they've grown by leaps and bounds!
Happy first day to you, friend. I'm sure it went as well as you were hoping! You have fantastic children.
I agree, everyone does need a Carra. When we moved from Pasco that was the one thing I knew for sure I was going to miss. Oh my Carra! You are lucky to have her in your lives.
Your kids look so excited for school. I hope everyone had a great first day...including you.
