Carter Oosterhouse Has Nothing On Her

NOTE:
(I know the following are some mighty crappy pictures but I'm working on it.
I've put several hints out there to the Rizz that ALL I WANT for
Christmas is a nice new camera and I'm hoping he's hearing me loud and clear. You are, right Rizz?)

Last weekend when our Boise family came roaring into town, my uuber talented sister-in-law Tiff unloaded a nail gun and air compressor from her car. Why? Because I was bossy enough to make her work some shelf building into our weekend and she happily obliged. She has built stuff all over her house and it always ends up adorable and after seeing this tutorial months ago, I knew she was my go-to gal. This wasn't a difficult project by any means, but it has made a huge difference in the space above my buffet. I'm loving it.

After:

I too will be using this as a fun place for holiday decor but in honor of our anniversary last week, I turned it into all things Rizz and Kiz related. He loved it when he came in and saw everything I had displayed. It's random and perfectly imperfectly w
hich fits us all the more.

It was fun digging through the archives of our life together and pulling out some faves. That Mickey & Minnie cake topper? A total splurge for us on our honeymoon in Disneyworld but I wanted something that would always remind us of that wonderful trip, and they do from their perch on my dresser. The birthday card on the top? The Rizz's first card to me which cracked me up and knew that he was someone worth getting to know. The Broadway playbills? Reminders of our fab trip to New York this spring. And our swimming with Frida picture? One of my favorite experiences, ever. These past fourteen years have been pretty spectacular.

You know what else is spectacular? This is my 700th post! Amazing, isn't it? In honor of that and in honor of 14 fun filled years with the Rizz, I'll be sending one lucky reader a little something that has helped the Rizz and I stay so connected. All you have to do is comment and tell me your favorite romantic movie. For an extra entry, become a follower of this little bloggy. I'll draw a winner on Friday.

New shelves, fourteen years and 700 posts? Time to celebrate indeed. Ready, set, go!

Congrats on the Anniversary and the new shelves! My favorite romantic movie is Pearl Harbor. It had it all and I can watch it over and over and it never gets old.

Love the shelves. I'm so impressed with DIY people. I'm not one of them. My favorite serious romantic film is Out of Africa (more for the Africa part than the romance-someday I'm going on Safari and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro!) My favorite funny romance is Notting Hill - okay, maybe My Best Friend's Wedding (cuz I love the real life that the guy marries the wrong girl, and Rupert Evert is High-larious). I love reading your blog. You are a talented writer and the best car pool buddy ever.

I LOVE that you turned your new shelves into an anniversary tribute! Anniversaries get often over looked, and really should be celebrated! Love it!!

As for the most romantic movie...easy!
The Notebook. Tony would probably agree.

Love those shelves! There are so many good ones, so if I had to pick which one I'd watch today: Hope Floats.

I still enjoy your blog for sure! Congrats on your many years of "service" and love.
My fav is (and a tad inappropriate...) The wedding date. Even though Debra Messing's hair was so gross. I LOVE Dermot he is HOT.

Well we all know 14 years is a long time and marriage isn't always easy, but you two make it look that way. Congrats on that.

Too many movies to choose, but I do like The Wedding Planner or The Wedding Singer.

You two make 14 years look effortless! The shelves are great and I bet it was fun decorating in honor of your anniversary.

No surprise that Melanie agrees with my all time favorite romantic movie, The Notebook. :)
