As Promised

Apparently, my super-anxious-can't-wait-to-meet-my-new-nephew Auntieness got the better of me because the kids and I just returned from a whirlwind trip to Seattle to meet baby Devin. I pulled Spence out of school early on Monday and we sped away only to return a mere 48 hours later. But it was completely worth it as I spent a good chunk of yesterday holding my sweet nephew and giving mom and dad some pointers. It makes me sad to think that I won't be there for the everyday stuff but it was nice to feel helpful if even for a few hours. His nickname of Stega served him well as he sounds like a velociraptor when he cries and it's a sound I will actually miss. Here he is, nice and milk drunk and freshly swaddled:

I'm in love.

He's so cute! Does it make you so excited - not too much longer and we'll be seeing pictures of your little cutie!

He is a beautiful baby. You are one good auntie for speeding up there. I'm so happy that you are spontaneous enough to do this.

There is nothing better than a babe all drunk on milk.

I remember the days when my babies were in a milk stupor and all was right in their world.

He is precious.

So glad your kids had the opportunity to go and meet their new little cousin this week.

That's so great that you sped up there to go see your new nephew! It's so hard living away from family and not getting to be a part of those moments. He looks so sweet.

You are a fabulous Aunt to travel to see the little babe. I am enjoying watching your baby calendar count down, it sure seems to be going fast. I can't help thinking what mischief the little cousins are going to get in together.

How great is it that this little nephew of yours will have his very own cousin his own size to play with in a few months! Love it! And newborn babies are my absolute favorite thing in the whole wide world. I LOVE their velvet skin, little squeeks, and the way their bum curls right into the palm of your hand. He's just precious. What a good Aunt Karen you are!
