Grandma, Come Save Me!

I knew what kind of day it was going to be at 4:15 this morning.

Because at 4:15 my son woke up crying as he sometimes does, not really awake but not really asleep, crying because he wants his mom or dad. First up was dad, who rocked him quietly and put him back to bed. Twelve minutes later it was my turn. I rocked. I put him back to bed. I tried to go back to sleep myself but didn't until 5:57.

Brad's alarm went off at 6.

The girls came in at 6:17.

Spence followed at 6:30.

Austin awoke again at 6:32.

Yep, I knew what kind of day it was going to be right away.

The kind where I go to put my contacts on and find that one of them is ripped right down the middle.

And I am out of replacement contacts.

And I hate wearing my glasses.

And I had a meeting this morning with people I'm just getting to know.

And my daughter decides to throw the mother of all fits and I have to leave the meeting early, completely embarrassed for losing my cool and mortified at my daughter's behavior.

And I have to make three trips to the car: one, to haul out a hysterical Sienna; two, to carry out an exhausted Austin; and three to carry out Lily who I am watching this morning. I'll tell you this: people who have twins are AMAZING because I am not built for it. Austin and Lily are 15 hours apart and it is tricky business watching those two.

And I have a PTO meeting tonight and I am vain enough to be completely insecure in my glasses even though I see women wearing them all the time and I think "wow! she looks fantastic! I wish I had cute, funky glasses like that!"

Maybe my glasses just aren't funky.

Maybe I just don't look fantastic.

Maybe I am unusually grumpy.

Because.

Because.

Because.

I'm off to do the floors, my most beloved of all household chores. Let's hope the funk passes quickly.

I'll save you dear!! Just hold on for a few more hours....oh, by the way, you look great in your glasses. The snarl is a bit scary tho.

I LOVE you in glasses!!!! You totally pull off the super sexy smart look in glasses! I am sorry about the multiple wake ups this morning, that would put a snarl on anyone's face, but look on the bright side, you are having a fantastic hair day!! See you tonight:)

I wondered if you were having one of those days when I passed you in your glasses today. I am totally insecure in my glasses too, but that's probably because I DO look terrible in them. Any thought of 'hey maybe they aren't so bad' vanished when my neighbor stopped by when I was wearing them and literally jumped back a couple inches in shock. Yeah, that helped. I think you look fantastic in your glasses, btw, and tonight will be fine!

If it means anything (and it probably doesn't) I really like your glasses, and I think you look fantastic in them!

I'm sorry about the mother of all fits from Sienna. That is NEVER fun. And you know I know what I'm speaking of as you've personally witnessed some doozies from Jake.

Sorry I won't be able to make it to the meeting tonight, we'll be stuffing our faces while we celebrate Spencer's birthday. (Red Robin and Costco cake!)

I hope the rest of your day goes better.

Love the picture! I like the glasses on you, they look great. Kid tantrums at meetings are my kids' specialty, so I know where you're coming from. Hope the later part of today is much better.

Lovin' the Elvis lip snarl. I think you look great with those cute funky glasses! Take comfort in knowing we've all been there...I've wanted to crawl under a rock several times when my boys' behavior was insane. Love ya, have a great night!

Boy oh boy, I'm tired just reading through that. What a morning!

I think you look adorable in glasses. Sometimes I secretly wish I had a pair. Be careful what I wish for, right?

You look lovely in them... But then again, you are the girl that could wear a paper bag and make it look hot! Not that your glasses are in the same realm as a paper bag- but you get what I'm sayin'... right? Ok, I'll shut up.

BOO to kid fits!!

I was thinking about my comment and I didn't mean that I'm glad you have bad days, but I'm glad that I'm not the only one who does. Hope that sounds nicer!
