For the boy who helps me through each morning by helping the other kids with their breakfasts, by putting their shoes on, packing their lunches, etc.
For the boy who hovers around his baby brother, getting him anything he might need and playing with him earnestly.
For the boy whose kind smile instantly calms me down.
For the boy who lights up this house and never has to be asked twice.
For the boy who always stands up for the underdog.
For the boy who broke me into mothering as gently as possible by being the best kid around.
An impromptu date with Mama.
His pick? Lunch at the Olive Garden.
Three breadsticks, dipped in Alfredo sauce. One-half of a portion of Fettucine Alfredo. Four Zeppoli's dipped in chocolate. Two refills of Sprite.
I think my boy is growing.
The food was great, the conversation fantastic, and the company the best around.
I love you Spence.

Sounds like a wonderful time! So fun to go and do things one on one like that every now and then. I need to remember to do those things more often.
What a cutie. And look at those eyes. They're beautiful. He is just about the best boy anyone could ever ask for. And I bet he'll be the perfect date when he gets to be 16 :)
He won't be dating until he's 26. No one will be good enough for my grandson.
Grandma, you are a crack up! Karen, you really do have a spectacular boy on your hands...so glad you two had a fun date!
That would be my idea of a perfect day as well, only, with -you know, my own kid:)
That sounds awesome! I so get to do that with my son! Thanks for sharing!
I love this!
What a perfect way to show him how thankful you are!
And holy cats, I don't think I've ever seen Spence eat that much. Pretty sure he's going to be taller than me by Christmas!
This is the best! I love that you share about the special time you spend with each of your children. He is pretty freakin adorable.
sounds like a dream son...but you're a pretty good MOM yourself.
