Some Enchanted Evening

You know how sometimes, if you find yourself in the right place at the right time, you get to experience something truly magical? I love those times, when you almost have to pinch yourself and wonder how did I get so lucky as to be right here, right now?

Last night was an evening full of magic. If you're local, you're probably aware of the amazing efforts this gal has been putting forth in bringing some wonderful musicians to our little neck of the woods. Her first concert was enchanting; a barn full of white lights and good friends, enjoying the music of the lovely Mindy Gledhill. And last night, her second concert featuring the amazing Sarah Sample, was just as enchanting but for completely different reasons.

Billed as a "house concert," the setting couldn't have been more perfect. Candlelight. Room for 50. Friends huddled together taking it all in and being completely aware that we were experiencing something unique. Something special and intimate and overwhelming. The show opened with the songs of our own Charith Bagley, a local mom who sings with soul and plays a mean guitar. She was confident and true and I was so impressed with her. And then Sarah took the lead, greeting us all like we were sitting in her living room. She pulled us in immediately and showed us all the parts of herself by sharing some of the most poignant, most raw material I've heard in a long time. Her stories made us smile, her songs made us cry and her voice filled us with strength. With courage. With the camaraderie that happens among women when we stand tall and support one another.

It was perfection.

It was captivating.

It was magical.

And I'm so glad I was there.

Thank you Marilyn, for working your tail off so we could have a night unlike any other. The night will be a favorite of mine for a long time coming.

And your next concert? The one you announced last night? I can't wait for that one either. I'm so glad I live here and get to experience this and to those of you living not-so-far away, mark your calendars and make plans to come see what she has planned next. You won't want to miss it.

I'm completely jealous! This whole "concert in my house" idea is really, really amazing!

It sounds like it was the perfect night! I'm still lamenting that I wasn't able to be there...but next time I will be for sure! I'm so happy for Marilyn that it came together so well.

You are so kind, Karen.

Seeing you and all of the wonderful people who supported that night, in my home, listening together to beautiful music, is seriously the most wonderful feeling in the world.

Thank you!
