Free Dog to Good Home...Actually, Any Home Will Do

I woke up nice and early this morning to get ready for the long day ahead. I am currently watching four extra children and I knew that I would need to be prepared to make the most of the crazy day to come. After showering and getting ready, I headed downstairs at 7 to make breakfast for the crew, one of which is sleeping at my house for a few days.

By 8:30 I realized I still had not had any breakfast and was suddenly starving. I remembered the homemade zucchini bread in the pantry and got very excited at the idea of a few toasty slices. After carefully cutting the bread and toasting it to perfection, I left it on the counter to tend to one of the seven children.

Um, yeah.

When I returned, not only were my lovely slices gone by way of my beastly dog, so was the ENTIRE LOAF. You've never seen someone get so upset by the loss of carbs as I! Completely frustrated, I stomped hungrily out of the house to load all the children into the car and take Hannah to preschool.

Fast forward a few hours later to when my lovely VT's stopped by for a quick visit. We had a nice little chat about the chaos that is currently my life and as they left, they handed me a bag of goodies. Inside was a lovely loaf of some kind of bread that smelled divine. Happy to be able to make up for this morning incident, I carefully unwrapped the bread and sliced away.

At that exact moment, one of the kids screamed bloody murder and I went running. After comforting said child for about 20 minutes (they had fallen hard on the tile) I returned to the kitchen to find the SECOND loaf of bread eaten by my dog.

Seriously.

So, if you any of you would like to put an overweight, lazy chocolate lab under your tree, give me a call.

We love overweight, lazy Bersh. But that does bite! So sorry about the bread. I'm making French Bread today, do you want some?

We already have one a lazy chocolate lab of our own. I feel your pain. Not the zucchini bread!

Please tell me it wasn't my child that fell on the tile...and thanks again for allowing me to add to your chaos and contributing to my A.

That really stinks! 2 loaves?? Really? :S Hopefully you'll get some other goodies to shoot those carbs through the roof!!

This was too funny. Sounds like it could've been a scene in a movie! No dogs wanted here! We could barely survive the one we had!

No thank you - I have a thing against dogs, probably because they steal loaves of bread- repeatedly.

What is it with that dog and loaves of bread?? Didn't Hershey chow down a loaf last summer when you came to visit me? So sorry to hear about your carbless day and injured kid. Hope your day improves!

We already have Bear that is constantly begging for our human food! They know it is winter and they are trying to pack on the pounds!
We missed you at our preschool song fest and Santa visit! Hannah was well behaved as always! Did she tell you her "Santa" and "Snowman" poem? So...cute! They sang a few traditional songs too! Santa arrived and came through the back sliding glass door! Very cute...and the kids loved it! Tia Thornes' dad was the Santa helper! She was so cute...she knew it was him...but totally played along with it!
See you on Jan. 4th! Hoping all goodies are stored at high places!

Ahh...we feel your pain at our house right now. :-) We are currently teaching the girls that they MUST push in their chairs at the table before they leave the kitchen or else we find a puppy ON TOP of said table scarfing down whatever I haven't cleaned up yet. Gotta love those dogs! At least mine isn't big enough yet to get to the counters. Oh, then I'd really be in a world of hurt. :-) Good luck with that!

When I was in junior high our dog, Scuppers, got on top of our nice dining room table and peed on it...count your blessings.

I’m going to have to check your blog more often. Isn’t being a parent (of dogs) a fun experience. Lets see, we’ve had holiday pies and roasts eaten, siding torn off the house, and the hind quarter of a deer deposited on our front porch by these lovely creatures. The best story is when Gail took the kids to a local baker to pick up a specially made cake for a friend. This was not a Costco or Albertson cake, but a rather expensive work of art. The baker was quite proud of it. Gail gather up the kids for her next stop. When she returned to the van, she found the cake she so carefully strapped into the seat, smashed into a heap by your know who, the family dog, who had snuck into the car earlier. He had a habit of doing that when he thought he was going to be left behind. Actually I think the kids had something to do with it, but they never have admitted to it. Gail said the worse part was when she returned to the bakery and had to witness the dejected look on the baker’s face when he saw the remains of his creation. So, why is it that we have these creatures in our lives

That is so sad, (and yet funny at the same time, sorry!) that you didn't get any yummy bread! There would be some serious punishment for my dog! LOL
